Hamming it Up This Easter: A Simple and Flavorful Recipe for Duroc Pork Smoked Ham

Duroc Pork Ham Roast

Farm-to-Table Easter Ham: Impress Your Guests with this Recipe Using Our Own Pork

Duroc Pork is a popular breed of pig for smoking ham, known for its rich, juicy, and flavorful meat. Duroc pigs are known for their marbled meat, providing really great flavor.  Durocs also have a long lived history at Creamery Creek - more on that later!

Our Duroc Hams are already smoked, but if you order one fresh, or have one of our Duroc Pork Roasts - here are some tips: When it comes to smoking a Duroc pork ham, it's typically recommended to use hickory or applewood as the smoking wood, as it provides a sweet, smoky flavor that complements the unique taste of Duroc pork. Smoked Duroc pork ham pairs well with traditional sides such as scalloped potatoes or mac and cheese, and if there are any leftovers, ham biscuits or ham and bean soup are delicious ways to enjoy the smoky and tender meat.

Easter is just around the corner, and nothing says Easter dinner quite like a juicy ham. A delicious ham is a centerpiece dish that is perfect for feeding the whole family, with plenty of leftovers for sandwiches and other dishes in the days that follow.  When it comes to cooking the ham, try glazing it with a sweet and savory mixture of brown sugar, honey, mustard, and cloves for a sticky, caramelized crust. Serve your ham with classic Easter sides like roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, and hot cross buns. And if there are any leftovers, ham sandwiches with mustard and pickles are a delicious way to enjoy the ham in the days to come.

Happy Easter from all of us at Creamery Creek! If you're serving up one of our Duroc Smoked Ham Roasts - send us a picutre, we'd love to see it on your table!

XO,
