Beef Stew with a Crunch: A Surprising Twist

Ingredients:
- 3 lbs beef stew meat
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, quartered
- 1/3 lb butter
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables
- 8 oz thickened stew beef juice (or beef gravy)
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 can water chestnuts, drained
Instructions:
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and mushrooms, cooking until soft and fragrant.
- Add stew beef to the skillet, seasoning with garlic salt, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1 hour until the beef is tender.
